Collect all kinds of Bugatti, Ferrari but only drive ‘grass’ every day
Chin Jit Pyng (commonly known by his initials JP) is the owner of the largest car collection in Malaysia. His collection is always fluctuating in volume because of buying and selling, in the range of 60-100 cars.
However, the pillars of his collection have not changed over the years thanks to the giant’s intense passion for Bugatti cars. The first Bugatti he owned was a $2.6 million Chiron ordered in 2016 after a test drive with his son, followed by a Divo (only 40 cars worldwide) with an estimated value. $5.7 million and is also the only one available in Southeast Asia.
The Malaysian tycoon often takes pictures with his supercars but rarely drives them, instead every day he uses the Malaysian national car, the Proton.
In the future, the Bugatti duo will have a friend, a pure racing supercar Bolide, expected to be handed over in 2024. There are currently 30 to 40 cars in Chin Jit Pyng’s collection that he displays at his personal museum. JPM Museum is located in Kuala Lumpur, of which there are many (10 to 15) cars bought by the tycoon after being conquered by their appearance in famous series such as 007 Spy or The Godfather.
The Malaysian giant’s car collection inspiration comes from his father who is passionate about 4-wheel machines but can’t afford it, even cars for daily use are just second-hand goods. Chin Jit Pyng changed his life in 1996 when he founded Silverlake Innovation Partners – an IT company serving major banks in Malaysia.
Although the tycoon owns a series of expensive super products in his car collection, people are almost never seen driving them. Instead, Chin Jit Pyng still only drives an ordinary car every day from Proton – the national car company of Malaysians.
