Germany controls a subsidiary of Gazprom

German Economy Minister Robert Habeck has appointed the Federal Network Administration as a trustee for Gazprom Germania until September 30.

Under the interim agreement, voting rights in Gazprom Germania will be transferred to the German government. This energy regulator will be authorized to fire management members and appoint new ones, and take all necessary measures to ensure energy supply.

The German government insists this is an “urgent” step because Gazprom Germania operates critical energy infrastructure in Germany.
