Proposing to change the purpose of more than 85 hectares of forest for Quang Ngai highway
Recently, the People’s Committees of Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai provinces have submitted a report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requesting appraisal and decision on the policy of changing the forest use purpose.
The localities proposed to consider changing the purpose of using more than 85 hectares of forest to build the North – South expressway in the Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon section.
Accordingly, in Binh Dinh province, the Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon component expressway project has a length of more than 26km, passing through the territory of Hoai Son commune and wards: Hoai Chau Bac, Hoai Chau, Hoai Phu, Hoai. Hao, Hoai Thanh Tay, Hoai Tan, Bong Son belong to Hoai Nhon town. The total area of affected forest land proposed to be changed to serve the project is 41.65 ha under the production forest planning. In which, the total area of planted forest is 40.06 ha (more than 26 ha has become forest; more than 13.2 ha is newly planted and not yet forested; 0.65 ha is land with other forestry trees); forest land with agricultural crops 1.59 ha.
In the province of Quang Ngai, the section of the highway passing through is more than 60km long, passing through the districts of Tu Nghia, Nghia Hanh, Mo Duc and Duc Pho town. The total affected forest area proposed to be converted to use for project construction is 43.4 ha of production forest. In which, the area of planted forest that has become forest is 16.63 ha; the area not yet forested is 28.77 ha.
Previously, following the request of the Ministry of Transport, based on the survey results and the approval of the Ministry of Transport, in the days from March 17 to March 21, 2022, PMU 2 handed over the site clearance pile. on the field for districts and towns: Tu Nghia, Nghia Hanh in Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh and related communes in sections: Km0-Km10, Km63+760-Km64+370, Km64+710-Km73+ 000. The total length of the site clearance piles assigned to the first phase is nearly 19km. For the remaining sections, PMU 2 will continue to submit to the Ministry of Transport for consideration and handover to the locality in April 2022 and June 2022.
