U23 Vietnam, recruiting Vietnamese women to the difficult table
The drawing ceremony to divide the table of football sports at the 31st SEA Games took place in Hanoi this morning (April 6).
U23 Vietnam is in Group A men’s football with U23 Indonesia, U23 Myanmar, U23 Philippines and U23 Timor Leste.
Group B in men’s football includes U23 Thailand, U23 Malaysia, U23 Cambodia, U23 Singapore and U23 Laos.

The Vietnamese women’s team is in Group A with the Philippines, Cambodia and Indonesia. Philippines, the team participating in the 2023 Women’s Soccer World Cup is the main opponent of coach Mai Duc Chung’s teachers and students.
Group B includes Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Singapore.
In 2 futsal events for men and women, there are only 5 participating teams, competing in a round-robin format for ranking points. The Vietnamese women’s futsal team played against Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand, respectively. The Vietnamese men’s futsal team faces Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand, respectively.
The 31st SEA Games men’s football is scheduled to take place from May 6 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho), Thien Truong (Nam Dinh) and My Dinh (Hanoi). The group match of U23 Vietnam was held in Phu Tho. The bronze medal matches and the final will take place in Hanoi on May 20.
Women’s football is expected to be held in Quang Ninh and Hung Yen. Ha Nam Gymnasium is the venue for two futsal events.
