Man accused of assaulting wife at Salt Lake City airport after vacation

A 38-year-old man was arrested Monday and charged in connection with the stabbing of his wife to death at Salt Lake City International Airport after returning from vacation, police said. .

Shawn Christopher Sturgeon was charged with one count of murder by car – by criminal negligence over alcohol/drugs, according to Salt Lake City Police Department.

Police were called to the airport just after 2 p.m. Monday and found Charlotte Sturgeon, 29, with serious injuries. She was taken to the hospital, where she died.

Investigators learned that Christopher Sturgeon, who was driving an SUV, ran past his wife on the second floor of an airport garage, police said.

According to police, Sturgeon loaded his injured wife into the car and drove to the checkout counter to ask for help.
