On the afternoon of December 9, 2020, Shiwangi sent her boyfriend a photo of a letter she had written to her daughter, expressing that she felt like a “bad mother”.
Two days before her death, Shiwangi sent another message begging her boyfriend: “Please come home today. I almost can’t live anymore.”
The case went to trial recently at West London Coroners Court.
It was concluded that baby Ziana was “killed intentionally” and that Shiwangi died by suicide. The cause of death for both Shiwangi and Ziana was confirmed to be “respiratory failure due to intoxication”.
Lydia Brown, senior coroner, told the court: “It’s heartbreaking to lose not one but two family members, in such difficult circumstances. I’m sure everyone who knew Shiwangi and Ziana feels the loss.”
