The HP stake is the third-largest investment Berkshire has made since February 26. On March 21, Berkshire agreed to acquire insurance company Alleghany Corp for $11.6 billion in cash, adding added to the portfolio of insurance companies including Geico.

In March, the billionaire’s group spent a large amount of money to buy shares in Occidental Oil and Gas Group, which ranks as one of the 10 largest common stock purchases Berkshire has ever made. .

Last year, HP stock recorded an impressive gain of 51%, but fell 7.3% year-to-date. Berkshire used to shy away from investing in technology but is now stepping deeper into the field. HP is a well-known computer and printer manufacturer. Shares of the company rose 9.9% to 38.38 USD in after-hours trading in New York after the news was announced. Meanwhile, an HP spokesperson did not respond to Bloomberg’s request for comment.
