Cardiologist haunts the image of a post-Covid-19 patient lying on the floor, urinating on his pants

Within 3 days, the doctor witnessed 2 young patients recovering from Covid for 2 weeks, one survived and the other died.

“An hour has passed, but the image and cries of the patient’s wife and child with an innocent face lying on their father’s body without knowing that their father is gone forever. That image haunts my mind. I”.

That is the status line shared by Doctor Dao Huy Hieu, a member of the Military Medical team participating in home support for F0, who used to spend more than 2 months participating in the treatment of Covid-19 patients. before the case that he attended the emergency room late on the afternoon of April 7.

The incident happened very quickly, although Dr. Huy Hieu tried to give first aid, the patient did not survive.

Dr. Hieu expressed, within 3 days, I have witnessed 2 cases of very young patients, both with the same medical history, only 2 weeks after recovering from Covid. Patients before the age of 25 are more fortunate than dying by going to the doctor.

“But yesterday’s patient, born in 1984, was more unfortunate than all the efforts of medical staff who could not be saved,” this young doctor echoed.

Accordingly, at about 19:45 on April 7, when Doctor Hieu had just finished the football match in the yard, a voiceless phone call from the neighbor’s sister “Hello, where are you?. There are heavy people in my area, I’ll go home right away.”

At that time, sweaty, Dr. Hieu and a colleague who played football together rushed home within about 7 minutes. Entering the patient’s house, saw the patient lying on the floor and had urinated on his pants.

Doctor Hieu checked the carotid pulse and could not catch it. At this point, the patient has completely lost consciousness, stopped breathing, the pupil is maximally dilated.

Immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques: chest compressions and rescue breaths are performed. At the same time, Doctor Hieu turned to explain to the family that the patient had died.

About 2 minutes later, the ambulance 115 also arrived. The patient was intubated and inflated immediately, along with adrenaline immediately.

“Knowing that the efforts are almost in vain, but hearing the patient’s wife’s cries and the eyes of the young child, the team could not bear to give up. 45 minutes passed, the patient still did not have a pulse, the whole team knew that the opportunity was almost over”, Dr. Hieu confided.

According to Dr. Hieu, this patient has recovered from Covid-19 for 2 weeks, based on the above symptoms, it is likely that the patient has a blood clot (blood clot) due to Covid-19 infection.

Thrombosis can occur at any vascular site, but rapid and sudden onset is more common in the lungs and heart.

When thrombosis in the lungs, if not detected and treated early, blood clots can cause necrosis of lung tissue leading to respiratory failure and death.

Doctors also emphasized that post-Covid-19 cardiovascular disease complications can occur in both people with pre-existing medical conditions and healthy people, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

According to medical studies, there are many risk factors for blood clots, in which, there are causes related to diseases such as atherosclerosis, atrial fibrillation, diabetes, cancer, smoke a lot…

Coagulation can occur at any age, but those with high risk factors as outlined above may increase the risk.

From the above unfortunate case, Dr. Hieu recommended that in medicine the same disease but each person will be different and no one is the same. People are not sure that I have recovered. If people are okay, I’m not sure I’m okay either.

“Hope everyone is not subjective with Covid-19. We are not pessimistic, but don’t be subjective, especially for people with long-lasting symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, fast heart rate,” said Dr. Hieu.
