Anxiety disorders and depression in adolescents, if not properly cared for and detected in time, will have extremely dangerous consequences, which is evidenced by the child suicide cases that have shaken public opinion. in recent times.

Typically, the case of patient TN (who is studying in grade 9, in Hanoi) was taken to the Institute of Mental Health (Bach Mai Hospital) for treatment in a state of self-torture by slitting his hand. In addition, N is also haunted by the appearance of a voice in his head.

According to the patient’s mother, N was very good at school in the past, but starting in grade 8 and grade 9, his academic performance gradually decreased. The reason is that because online learning lasts a long time, N’s computer skills are not good, so he can’t keep up with the teacher’s lectures.

When she saw that her son’s academic strength was going downhill, N’s mother sent him to the teacher’s house for extra tutoring. However, when friends knew about it, many people boycotted, did not interact, did not play with… making N feel sad.

However, after 2 weeks of treatment, N contracted COVID-19, and his family asked to be discharged for isolation and home treatment. Although still taking prescription drugs, the patient did not improve, the symptoms worsened, such as hearing voices in his head insulting him, saying he was a burden to his parents.

Recently, N continued to be taken to Bach Mai Hospital for treatment with a diagnosis of: Depressive syndrome, historical factors, self-destructive behavior. After being treated with drugs, combined with exercise and psychotherapy, N’s spirit is now stable.

However, with a child, the attention of the whole family is extremely necessary. Accordingly, the way of thinking, caring, and questioning of grandparents and parents to the child is different.

If only the mother inquired and cared, it would not be possible to cover all and meet the children’s needs. Therefore, consider taking care of children as a job, equally divided. Don’t wait until it’s over, it’s extremely difficult to find a solution.”
