On April 7, Tesla officially inaugurated the “super factory” Gigafactory in the state of Texas, USA, this factory is called Giga Texas. Speaking during the ceremony, Elon Musk described the size of Giga Texas with some interesting comparisons. He said the company has calculated that the plant has a capacity of 194 billion hamsters.
“By our calculations, you could fit 194 billion hamsters into this factory,” Musk spoke in front of a crowd of thousands.
He further compares that the plant is three times the size of the Pentagon. “If you erect the factory, it’s taller than the Burj Khalifa.”he said.
Tesla’s presentation photo at the event shows Giga Texas standing 1,166 meters tall, while the Burj Khalifa in Dubai is 829 meters tall and the Eiffel Tower in Paris is 338 meters tall.
Musk said Giga Texas is the company’s sixth flagship plant. Other factories are located in Shanghai, Berlin, New York, Nevada and Fremont.
Elon Musk said that Tesla chose to build the factory in Austin, Texas because it has enough space for a giant factory. He said: “We needed a place where the company could get really big and there’s no place like Texas.”
