Nearly 1,700 billion VND to restore metro consulting service No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien)
Recently, a representative of the Management Board of Urban Railways of Ho Chi Minh City (MAUR) said that the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has approved the estimate of the general consulting costs of the metro project No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien). worth 1,670 billion VND.
The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City requested MAUR to fully absorb the opinions of the technical design appraisal council of metro project No. 1; urgently develop a plan and implement the next steps, ensure compliance with regulations, do not affect the progress, avoid arising lawsuits and complaints.
The general consulting contract for metro project No. 1 was signed by the NJPT consortium and the investor in 2007 with a value of about 1,300 billion VND. During the implementation process, the project generated a lot of work and took a long time, so the two sides had to sign 18 appendices. In 2017, the two sides continued to negotiate to sign Appendix 19.
The estimated cost of consulting for Metro No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) is about VND 1,670 billion approved by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, as a basis for resumption of services.

It is known that Metro No. 1 currently reaches more than 89% of the volume, is expected to be commercially exploited from the fourth quarter of next year. This is the first urban railway project of Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND. The whole route is nearly 20 km long, from Ben Thanh station (District 1), to Long Binh depot (Thu Duc city), with three underground stations and 11 elevated stations.
