Simple but effective habit makes it easy for us to read a few hundred more pages of books every day

Someone may have told you, “Copy everything I do and never wonder how I can read so many books and be so productive.” This is a bad mindset and I don’t support it at all.

If possible, I want to share a lot of knowledge and effective methods with people around, in the hope that I can help them in some way in life. But different things suit different people. So it’s important that you experience it for yourself and find what’s really right for you.

Recently, I have tried many methods to be able to read more books. But only a few of them are effective. But now, I have built myself a daily habit, helping me to read several hundred pages of books every day.

And here are a few suggestions that you can consider if you want to do the same:

Start a new day with 30 minutes of relaxation

Currently, I am on vacation in Cancun, Mexico. Every morning, I wake up around 7 a.m., pick up a book and read for half an hour, then drink an iced coffee. Here, I can see thousands of palm trees, crystal clear sea water, dozens of birds flying in the sky… It helps my soul become peaceful. And the only thing I care about is everything that I have at the moment. Its very beautiful.

Your attitude and feelings each morning often have a direct impact on how you feel throughout the day. If you wake up stressed, depressed, or angry, that emotion is likely to follow you for the next few hours. But if you take a few minutes to relax, welcome a new day with a good mood, chances are, it will be a very productive day. In addition, reading is also a way to significantly improve your relationships because through it, you can learn to empathize with the people around you. Quoting an article published by HealthLine:

“Many studies have shown that people who read literary fiction – stories that explore the inner lives of characters – have a much better ability to understand the feelings and beliefs of others than those who do not. Researchers call this ability “theory of mind,” a set of skills needed to build, navigate, and maintain social relationships. Literary theory won’t help you arouse this ability, but research has shown that people who read long-term fiction tend to have better developed theory of mind.”

Take some time for yourself. Forget the stress of the real world and immerse yourself in an enjoyable book for half an hour. Treat those moments as a gift because they are precious and need to be protected. Thirty minutes may not seem like much, but it will add up to 15 hours of reading a month.

Listen to audiobooks for an hour while traveling from place to place

I must confess: I am a huge fan of good storytellers. There is nothing better than hearing a good audio book, read by someone with an extremely attractive, captivating voice.

I often listen to audiobooks while walking to the grocery store or walking on the beach. Right now I’m listening to Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan. I was fascinated by the knowledge of astronomy and discovered many interesting spaces. When you listen to them, you can unleash your imagination. And that’s why I’m always excited when I listen to audiobooks.

Try doing the same thing. Download an audiobook and listen to it while you’re driving to work, sitting on the train, or even washing the dishes. Every day, you have the opportunity to experience 64,800 seconds of beauty. Make the most of them.

Reading helps me relax and calm down in life. By reading every morning and listening to audiobooks in my spare time, I have been able to access more books each month. This method really worked for me.

But like I said in the intro, different things work for different people. Maybe you’ll like the method I’m using. Or maybe, you think this method is not suitable for you at all and you should not apply them. But you should experiment, because it will help you find what works for you.
