EU supports more than 10 billion euros for the people of Ukraine

This was announced by the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen yesterday.

The fundraising event took place in Poland and was co-organized by the European Commission (EC) and the Canadian government. At the event, governments, businesses and individuals pledged support of 4.1 billion euros, much of which will be distributed through the government of Ukraine and the United Nations.

Meanwhile, the European Union’s financial institutions will provide loans and grants of 5 billion euros, to support housing, education and health care for Ukrainian refugees arriving in different countries. EU country, the remaining 1 billion euros comes from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

According to the EC, more than 4.4 million Ukrainians have fled the country to seek refuge in neighboring EU countries, while 6.5 million have been internally displaced due to the conflict.
