Due to the complicated and unpredictable development of the epidemic, in order to minimize damage to people and businesses and avoid the congestion and backlog of goods that may occur when China temporarily suspends customs clearance at border gates. Along the border, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requests localities, growing areas and farming areas to regularly monitor the clearance of goods at northern border gates to promptly update information to production households. in the area, thereby helping farmers to proactively adjust production plans to suit the current situation.

In 2021, Kim Thanh border gate also temporarily suspended import clearance of Vietnamese fresh fruit products (including dragon fruit) for up to 5 months, this border gate has only just restored import clearance of fresh fruits. from January 12, 2022.

However, since customs clearance returned, the export of goods (mainly fresh fruits) has been quite slow. Facing the congestion of many goods trucks waiting for customs clearance, on January 18, 2022, Lao Cai province announced to stop receiving trucks carrying fresh fruit to Kim Thanh border gate to export to China.
