Moderna recalls more than 764 thousand doses of vaccines contaminated with foreign substances

The batch of vaccines contaminated with the foreign substance that Moderna recalled was distributed in Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden in January.

The US pharmaceutical company said that impurities were found in 1 vial of the vaccine, but it recalled the entire batch of vaccines for safety reasons. Moderna did not disclose what impurities were found.

Last year, Japanese authorities suspended some doses of the Moderna vaccine, after an investigation found stainless steel contaminants in some vaccine vials. Moderna later recalled several batches of the vaccine in Japan.
