More than 2 months of conflict between Russia and Ukraine: No major radioactive leaks have occurred yet

The Chernobyl nuclear power plant was the site of the world’s most serious nuclear disaster in April 1986. The reactor exploded, killing 2 engineers on the spot, 2 engineers were seriously burned, 134 people participating in the rescue had to be hospitalized due to acute radiation syndrome – of these 28 people later died. The impact of the Chernobyl disaster on public health in both Ukraine and other European countries is unknown.
