Olympic figure skater Alysa Liu, 16, announced her retirement on Instagram.

Liu, who made the announcement on Saturday, said she has been skating for 11 years, since the age of 5 and said in that time she has accomplished her goal.

“Honestly, I never thought I would achieve as much as LMAOO. I’m very happy. I feel very satisfied with how my skating career has gone,” she wrote on Instagram.

Liu did not specify why she decided to retire, but hinted that her career has had its ups and downs.

On Instagram, Liu has shared a series of photos from her time competing at the Olympics and from her childhood.

She said now that she is retired, she will likely spend time with friends and family outside of school.

She added that “this skating has taught me a lot more about life than I expected. I’m really glad I skated.”

Liu’s time at the Beijing 2022 Olympics may have been marred by reality people believe She and her father, Arthur Liu, were targeted and harassed by the Chinese government.

Senior Liu is a former political refugee.

Federal charges have been filed against five people allegedly working for the Chinese government to track, harass, and spy on former Chinese nationals living in the United States.
