“Stealth Omicron” spread quite widely in China

In addition to the epidemic center is Shanghai City, mutant Omicron Stealth is now spreading quite widely, even in localities with very few cases like Hainan province. The most drastic anti-epidemic measures have been strengthened in many localities.

Shanghai on the 9th day recorded a record increase of 24,933 cases including the number of positive cases without symptoms. The whole city continues to be in a tight blockade. The whole country is giving strength to Shanghai.

China’s top epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan said that because Shanghai did not fully understand the fast spreading characteristics of Omicron, it did not fight the epidemic aggressively at first, so it allowed the epidemic to spread widely.

Learning from Shanghai, Guangzhou City – a leading economic center of China has conducted mass testing of 18 million people when the case was first detected. Although there are only a few cases a day, Beijing also regularly tests students and nursing homes.

Disease alert was raised to the highest level in most localities. The glimmering signs of opening the economy to the world were once again almost extinguished when the Omicron strain spread in the country of billions of people.
