Tightening aspirations, fierce competition in 10th grade

The upcoming 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City is also the first time that students (HS) register their aspirations (NV) in 2 forms online and in person. In which, the online form is the main one, starting from April 14.

May 9th, lock the application data for registration

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, in the upcoming 10th grade entrance exam, the department will train and deploy NV registration software to schools and educational institutions. for parents and students to understand.

In addition, at this year’s 10th grade entrance exam, the application of digital map technology in the enrollment software will notify and warn of the distance from where the student is to the school where the student is registered. An official of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that this application is intended to tighten the registration of NV of students, avoiding the situation that students register for NV for yes or no.

“The fact is that every year there is still a situation due to the distance from the place of residence to the school, many students have to transfer schools, even pass the school but do not submit the application for admission” – he cited.

According to the plan, it is expected that the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will open the registration portal for students to enroll in class 10 in both face-to-face and online form from April 14 to May 9. On May 9, the department will block the online and in-person NV registration data.

On May 10, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce the initial statistics of candidates’ NV1 registration. After having the statistics, students have 5 days to adjust the NV. The adjustment of NV is in the direct form and must not be changed after this adjustment.

Another new point in this year’s 10th grade enrollment period is that the NV enrollment system for 10th grade students will usually provide information about high schools, teaching and learning content of electives according to the 2018 high school curriculum.

If you do not have a household registration in Ho Chi Minh City, you can still take the exam

This year’s 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City was held on June 11 and 12, with the number of subjects remaining the same as every year: math, literature, and foreign languages. Particularly, students who register for the 10th grade exam will take the 4th exam, which is a specialized subject. Time to take the exam in English language and math is 120 minutes/subject; The foreign language course is 90 minutes.

The admission score will be the total score of 3 tests (all with a coefficient of 1) and additional points for priority subjects. Successful candidates must complete all 3 exams and none of them get a score of 0.

Information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training shows that the number of students graduating from grade 9 this year in the city is nearly 100,000. Meanwhile, public high schools only enroll in 10th grade, about 70% of these targets.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the subjects eligible to participate in the 10th grade entrance exam in the city are high school graduates in Ho Chi Minh City within the prescribed age range. Thus, students who do not have a household registration in Ho Chi Minh City but study in secondary schools in the city can still take the exam. Students will be able to register 3 NV with priority 1, 2, 3 for admission to class 10 of regular public high schools.

Admissions experts believe that the recruitment of 70% of the quota of nearly 100,000 students graduating from 9th grade makes the competition for a place in 10th grade in public schools this year is forecasted to be fierce. This is completely reasonable when the leaders of many high schools said that the enrollment target is not expected to increase compared to the previous school year. Some schools even reduced the quota, to save classrooms as function rooms.

Mr. Hoang Son Hai, Principal of Nguyen Chi Thanh High School (Tan Binh District), said that this year’s 10th grade target of the school is 675 students, equivalent to 15 classes – down 1 class compared to the previous school year. “The school has calculated and reported the expected enrollment to the Department of Education and Training on the basis of considering and calculating the facilities and teaching staff” – Mr. Hai emphasized.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu, Principal of Nguyen Du High School (District 10), said that compared to last year’s target, this school year, the school reported enrollment target from 540 to 560 students, equivalent to 17 classes. The reason is that this year, the number of students per class at the school following the advanced model is from 30 to 35 students, so the enrollment quota has increased slightly.

The first school to announce the enrollment quota for class 10

The National University of Ho Chi Minh City has just announced the enrollment plan for class 10 of the High School for the Gifted in the academic year 2022-2023. These students will study at campus 2.

Also from this year, the High School for the Gifted has innovated the way of entrance exam and admission. The entrance exam will take place from June 4 to 6. Candidates register NV for admission according to the combination of registered exam subjects. Each candidate will register at least 1 NV and can register up to 5 NV in specialized classes. Registered candidates must satisfy the condition that the specialized classes use a combination of examination subjects corresponding to the exam subjects registered by the candidate. Candidates are considered equally according to the exam results, regardless of the priority order of the registered candidates. Candidates are only admitted to 1 student with the highest priority in the list of registered candidates.
