The Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung, citing government sources, said that Kronen Zeitung was seeking to become a bridge in an effort to help reconcile Russia and Ukraine. The Austrian Prime Minister’s office confirmed the visit, and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Austrian leader would hold talks with Russian President Putin.
“Yes, we confirm the talks,” Peskov said.
In a statement on his personal Twitter page, Karl Nehammer wrote: “I will meet President Putin in Moscow. Militarily we are neutral. We want all sides to open a humanitarian corridor, agree to a ceasefire and fully investigate war crimes.”
Earlier on April 9, Mr. Nehammer visited Kiev, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as other top officials.
