Hanoi wins back in the National Cup

Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai is ranked as the main stone, next to familiar teammates such as Van Quyet, Duc Huy, Hung Dung, Thai Quy, Thanh Chung, Viet Anh… However, during his time on the field, he left almost no mark, except for a shot wide of the post in the first half. In the 59th minute, Quang Hai gave up the field to striker Tuan Hai. This is the 25-year-old midfielder’s last match for Hanoi, before his contract expires on April 12.

With a superior squad quality, Hanoi controlled the ball more. But they did not create a clear advantage. During the first half, the only significant part was Zec Duro’s cut into the far corner in the 41st minute, but goalkeeper Thanh Binh flew over the bar.

At the beginning of the second half, Hanoi also conceded a goal first. 48 minutes from Van Quyet’s situation of losing the ball from the middle of the field, Da Nang counterattacked quickly. In the 64th minute, Hung Dung could not beat goalkeeper Thanh Binh with a close-range shot. In the 75th minute, Hanoi netted Da Nang, but the goal was not recognized because Van Quyet had previously fouled the home defender.

The away team continued to strengthen their forces by bringing Thanh Luong and Van Toi on to the field in the 82nd minute. But just three minutes after being present, Van Toi fouled Kone, the referee gave the host a penalty. However, from the 11m mark, defender Lam Anh Quang kicked the ball into the right corner and was caught by goalkeeper Bui Tan Truong.

Unable to score to finish off the opponent, Da Nang received bitter fruit right after. From the free kick in the 87th minute, Thanh Luong hung the ball into the penalty area for Thai Quy to bounce back and hit the net to equalize 1-1. Only four minutes later, it was the old general Thanh Luong who handled it delicately at the edge of the penalty area and then hung it on the far post to let Siladji cushion the ball at close range, setting a 2-1 victory for Hanoi.

Hanoi entered the quarterfinals against Binh Phuoc – the team defeated Quang Nam 3-0 in the match at the same time.

In the remaining matches of the 1/8 round, HAGL overcame Ha Tinh thanks to a penalty shootout (5-3), similar to how Saigon overcame the HCM City club.
