Google recently removed 11 malicious software from its Play Store app store after discovering that they were silently collecting user data.
According to the Wall Street Journal, these apps attracted more than 60 million installs before being removed from the Google app store. Although they belong to many different topics such as weather applications, reading QR codes… but they all contain potentially malicious code steal personal information on the user’s device.
Security experts said that, after the malicious code is activated, these applications can illegally collect many personal data of users, including location, email address, phone number… Notably malicious code also has the ability to scan information from the clipboard and files stored on the device.
Although these malicious apps have now been removed from the Play Store, however, if you accidentally installed them before, delete them immediately to avoid personal information theft.
