The cost of raising children in China is the most expensive in the world

According to research firm Jefferies, as a percentage of average disposable income – that is, income that households can use after paying personal income taxes and social insurance, China is The most expensive place to raise children. Expenses are largely spent on education.

To raise a child until the age of 18 in China costs more than $75,000 and needs another $22,000 to pay for college.

Currently, early childhood services in China are mostly private, expensive and only recently changed when the Chinese government encouraged couples to have children. Jefferies analysts point out that, in many Western countries, state-provided student loans are more common, and the economic burden from parents will shift to children. In the US, for example, 55% of college graduates went into debt for the 2019-2020 school year.
