This is the main road at the western gateway, often congested in the days before and after the Tet holiday due to the high number of vehicles.

Although there was no prolonged traffic jam as during the holidays many years ago, there was local congestion in some sections due to the high number of vehicles. In particular, tension occurred at the intersection of National Highway 1 with Doan Nguyen Tuan, Nguyen Huu Tri … when the line of cars filled the road, inching little by little.

Traffic police are on duty at these intersections to regulate, and at the same time, traffic lights also adjust priority for vehicles going straight on National Highway 1, with the duration of the green light for about one minute, the red light for 30 seconds, helping the vehicle quickly released.

Taking his wife and children on a motorbike from An Giang to Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Viet (35 years old), said it took nearly 5 hours, instead of about 3 hours as usual due to traffic jams in some sections of National Highway 1, Tien Giang province. , Long An and the gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.

“This year’s Ancestor’s death anniversary is off for three days, people go back to their hometowns and back to the city more, so the road is more congested than this holiday in previous years,” Mr. Viet said.

National Highway 50 section crosses Nguyen Van Linh street, in the evening is also congested due to the increase in traffic in the direction from Long An province to the city center. Most of the routes from the West to Ho Chi Minh City are short, so many people ride motorbikes. Many families pack furniture and gifts from the countryside. After a long journey in hot weather, fatigue is shown on their faces.

At the eastern gateway, from 4pm, many routes such as the highways Long Thanh – Dau Giay, Mai Chi Tho (Thu Duc city), the number of vehicles pouring in is very large. At Phu Huu roundabout, thousands of motorbikes and cars crowded together. Many people ride motorbikes with their belongings to return to Ho Chi Minh City after a three-day holiday.

At 5:00 p.m., the road to Cat Lai ferry from Nhon Trach, Dong Nai was congested for more than a kilometer, motorbikes had to run through the opposite lane to buy tickets to get on the ferry back to Ho Chi Minh City. The ferry has arranged an additional force to stand 500 meters from the ferry gate to sell tickets from afar, but thousands of cars have to wait for more than an hour because the ferries are operating at full capacity.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan, deputy director of the Youth Volunteer Ferry Management Enterprise (Cat Lai ferry management unit), said that today the number of passengers crossing the wharf is estimated at 65,000-70,000, up 40% compared to weekdays. Currently, in addition to 5 regular ferries, Cat Lai wharf has one more ferry, with about 300 trips serving the increasing travel demand.

In HanoiFrom 5 p.m., many central streets of Hanoi and national highways to the capital began to be congested. The Hanoi – Hai Phong expressway to the capital is stuck in traffic for more than two kilometers on Co Linh Street (Gia Lam). All three lanes are full, cars and motorbikes who want to move must climb the sidewalk and wriggle through the flow of vehicles.

The routes to the inner city also recorded similar traffic situation. At the intersection of Truong Chinh – Crossroads Department of traffic jam, many cars have to wait for more than 10 lights to get out of the area.
