According to The GuardianThe fig leaf is the most popular indoor plant thanks to its glossy green leaves shaped like a violin. Here are some tips to help homeowners take good care of the fig tree.

The light

Fig leaves prefer soft natural light, not too harsh. Ideally, it should be near a window that receives direct sunlight (the sun shines in) 3-4 hours a day.

Land

Dandelion leaves are susceptible to leaf drop and root rot if the soil is too wet, so the plant needs aerated, well-drained soil.

Country

Fig tree is a fastidious plant, too much or too little water will cause leaf drop. Before watering, make sure the soil is completely dry and don’t forget that the larger the pot, the longer the soil will dry out. You can water every two weeks in the hot season and once a month in the cold season.

Temperature and humidity

Fig leaves love warmth. It does not like drafts and sudden drops in temperature below 12 degrees Celsius. Leaves need to be misted regularly and wiped with a damp sponge to keep their green shine and photosynthetic ability.

Fertilizer

Apply NPK fertilizer at equal rate every month from spring to end of fall. In winter, you can add more potassium fertilizer to better absorb nutrients.

Place to put

The living room is the most suitable place to display the fig leaves because it is usually spacious, airy and bright. You can also grow figs in your office or balcony.

Warning

Dogs ingesting figs will experience skin and digestive tract irritation. If your dog chews on plants, consider bringing home figs.
