According to enterprises, the reason for the increase in prices is that the price of imported raw materials for feed production continues to rise due to adverse weather from the main growing areas in the world in South American countries. At the same time, the tension between Russia and Ukraine also has a great impact on the price of corn and wheat in the market.

In the past 2 years, feed prices have increased continuously by about 13 times, each time increasing from 200 to 350 VND/kg. To reduce the price increase of this item, at the end of 2021, the Government decided to reduce import tax on some materials such as wheat from 3% to 0%, corn from 5% to 2% to support farmers. . However, while people have never been notified of a discount by businesses, from the beginning of 2022, feed prices continue to escalate.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chien, Director of Duc Thang Agricultural Cooperative (Phu Cu, Hung Yen) said that with the current price of feed, small farmers, even farms, mostly fall into losses. Especially, from 2021 to now, hog price continuously plunging makes farmers more and more difficult.

For example, post-harvest crop by-products such as rice straw with 42.8 million tons, corn stalks with 10 million tons; vegetables and fruits 3.6 million tons, cassava stalks 3.1 million tons, cashews 3.1 million tons and others 6.1 million tons… but only a small part has been exploited. Slaughter by-products (organs, blood of cattle, poultry) in advanced countries are used to produce feed materials, but in our country they are mainly used for human consumption.

According to a representative of the Institute of Livestock Production, if locally available materials are used as animal feed, it can help reduce the price of animal feed by 300-1,000 VND/kg.

“After the process of researching and testing using these products to make feed, we found that the product has nutritional value equivalent to that of mixed feed products produced from imported materials.
