Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy S23 will not use MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip, continue to use Samsung chips
Samsung’s Exynos chips may still fall short of the Korean giant’s expectations, but that doesn’t mean Samsung will give up and look to other chipmakers. Last month, there were rumors that the Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy S23 will be equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 processor. However, an inside source has denied this information.
Samsung’s flagship smartphones in the US and China markets are usually equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor, while other regions are equipped with Samsung’s own Exynos chip. A report last year said that about 20% of Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones are equipped with Exynos chips, and Samsung wants to increase that number to 60%.
Therefore, Samsung’s switch to using MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 processor chip will be quite surprising. Although MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 is expected to be the most powerful Android smartphone chip at launch, only trailing Apple’s A15 Bionic in performance scores.
Internal sources have denied the above rumors, saying that the Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy S23 will not be equipped with the Dimensity 9000 chip, instead will still use the Exynos chip manufactured by Samsung. Besides, the Korean giant does not have any plans to use MediaTek processor chips in any of its smartphones in the future.
According to an earlier report, Samsung will adjust its chip strategy. The mobile unit will now be directly involved in the chip manufacturing process, previously operating completely independently. Therefore, the Exynos chip line promises to have many changes in the future and be better customized for Samsung smartphones.
