Honda wants to reshape its portfolio in such a way that the focus will shift from the one-time hardware business to the recurring business. In other words, Honda wants to continue to make money with the software over the life of the car.

In addition to plans to produce batteries with partners, Honda is also stepping up its own battery development: Honda will also build a demonstration line for solid-state battery production, which is expected to come online in spring of 2024.
