OnlyFans model stabbed to death by boyfriend to defend herself, lawyer says
The lawyer for an OnlyFans model who stabbed her boyfriend to death at their Miami apartment earlier this month said Monday that she acted in self-defence, a claim made several days after the victim’s family said there was “no reason to believe he was threatening”.
Attorney, Frank Prieto, confirmed comment first made for CBS Miami that he is confident that there will be no charges against Courtney Clenney in the April 3 murder of Christian Toby Obumseli.
Miami Police Department said last week that they were investigating a domestic violence case that left Obumseli dead. The department said in a statement the pair engaged in a physical melee that ended in a stabbing.
Obumseli is said to have died at a local hospital.
The department did not respond to a request for comment Monday.
Prieto said the pair’s two-year relationship was “complicated” and “obviously toxic.” The April 3 stabbing comes a week after Clenney, in her 20s, kicked Obumseli out of her apartment for alleged abuse, he said.
Attorneys for the Obumseli family did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
At a news conference on Friday, Karen Egbuna, Obumseli’s cousin, said the family “has no reason to believe this is a case of self-defense. Toby was raised by a very strong family, has strong morals and values. He doesn’t come from there.”
Egbuna describes him as caring, kind, and one of the most soft-spoken people in their family. His brother, Jeffrey Obumseli, added that he was the captain of his high school soccer team and a star athlete.
“There are so many unanswered questions and we just want justice for our brother,” he said, NBC Miami reported.
Prieto said that Clenney, who appears on the website OnlyFans as Courtney Tailor, was hospitalized following the incident to receive emergency mental health services.
He said she was released less than two days later to her family on a doctor’s recommendation.
