Philippines urgently searches for missing people after Typhoon Megi

Storm Typhoon Megi landed in the Philippines caused heavy rain and lead to battles mudslide severe in the southern and eastern regions of the Philippines. It is estimated that the death toll from the storm is up to 30 people.

The Philippines’ national and local disaster response agencies recorded five more deaths in the central and southern regions of the country on April 12, bringing the death toll from Typhoon Megi to 30. People.

Heavy rain and mud are hampering the search for landslide survivors in villages in the central Philippines. Rescue work is currently concentrated in the village of Kantagnos, which suffered two landslides.

Tropical Storm Megi made landfall in the Philippines on April 10 with winds of up to 65 km/h. This is the first tropical storm to hit this Southeast Asian country this summer. More than 17,000 people were estimated to have been evacuated when heavy rain caused by the storm flooded many homes, severely damaged many roads and caused power outages. About 105 people were injured by Typhoon Megi. Heavy rain and mud are hampering the search for landslide survivors.

Typhoon Megi has now weakened and is heading towards the Pacific Ocean.
