The highest export price of rice since the beginning of the year

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the volume of rice exported in the first three months of this year reached 1.48 million tons, equivalent to 715 million USD, up 24% in volume and 10.5% in value compared to the previous year. same period in 2021.

Notably, in the world market, rice price Vietnam’s exports rose to a 3.5-month high due to stable demand and rising transportation costs.

Specifically, Vietnam’s 5% broken rice is offered for sale at $415-420 a ton, up $20 from the beginning of last month.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s 5% broken standard rice is at $408-412 a ton, down $16 from the beginning of the month. The reason is that the lower baht leads to more competitive prices and boosts sales. However, logistics remains a challenge for the Thai rice industry because of insufficient ships and high freight rates.

Domestically, the rice market in the Mekong Delta provinces is more active when the price of winter-spring rice increases slightly, a quarter of the winter-spring rice area has been harvested.

In An Giang, the price of IR50404 rice was at 5,600 VND/kg, an increase of 400 VND/kg compared to February average; high quality rice OM 5451 at 5,700 VND/kg, an increase of nearly 400 VND/kg; rice is usually at 11,000 VND/kg; jasmine specialty fragrant rice at 15,000 VND/kg.

In Kien Giang, the price of rice also increased by 400-500 VND per kg compared to February. In Vinh Long, rice prices were stable.
