A few hours ago, version 12.7 of League of Legends has been officially updated to the servers of Riot. This means that 12.8 is also being tested on the PBE and a lot of new content and updates have been discovered. The most notable is the rework of the champion Olaf with many more features, upgrades and promises to help this character become much stronger.
Olaf Midscope UPDATE – Balance Reworks | PBE 12.8
The first noticeable thing we can see is that Olaf’s passive will now integrate as a lifesteal instead of just increasing attack speed as before. This change will make it possible for Olaf to farm very comfortably at level 1 without fear of losing health or relying on W to ensure turret. Maybe with this change, Olaf will now increase the first 2 Q and E for more damage in duel instead of using 1 point on W skill as before.
Olaf’s passive now grants lifesteal based on missing health
The next big change in Q – Ax Launcher is that it will now have the ability to remove enemy champion armor when hit. In addition, the mana to use Q is also reduced at the first levels, so the mana problem with Olaf has been solved somewhat. This continues to be an offensive change and makes Olaf’s duel much stronger in the early game.
Olaf’s Ax Launcher now has an additional armor reduction effect
For the skill W – Blood Ax, this move no longer increases lifesteal (to passive), instead, when activated, it will give Olaf a shield based on missing health. In addition, the bonus attack speed and duration are also slightly nerfed, in return, the cooldown of W is also reduced. It can be said that this is a flip-flop move in small fights because it helps Olaf to survive extremely strong at low health.
The “new” Olaf will be able to create extremely large shields from W
The final big update is on the ultimate when the base duration of the crowd control is reduced to 3 seconds. However, when basic attack and E – Firewood hit an enemy champion, that control immunity effect will last for 2.5 seconds. This means that this ultimate is only strong when used to attack. So in theory, Olaf can keep this immune effect for a very long time, as long as there are enough “buffalo” champions for this champion to attack continuously.
The duration of Ragnarok Apocalypse Immune Effect will be extended when Olaf basic attacks or casts E on enemy champions
In short, with the above changes, Olaf has become a very strong Gladiator in dueling with all the elements from lifesteal, shielding, minus armor right from the early levels. So it can be said that this rework will make Olaf much stronger in both the Jungle and Top lane positions. It’s possible that Olaf will dominate the meta once this rework hits the official servers.
