From the beginning of 2022, which car models have increased in price in Vietnam?

In the first 3 months of the year, a series of car manufacturers have increased prices or announced they will adjust the selling prices of car models in the Vietnamese market. The reason was given mainly due to the increase in raw material prices, the unsecured supply of components, making production difficult.

In February, Thaco announced to adjust the selling prices of the three hottest models from the Kia brand including: Seltos, Sonet and K3. In which, the automatic versions of Kia Sonet were adjusted to increase by 10 million VND – to 554, 594 and 624 million VND respectively while the manual version kept the selling price at 499 million VND.

Kia Seltos also increased the price by 5 million dong for 3 versions while K3 increased the price by 10 million for the Luxury version and 5 million for the Premium version. This price adjustment of Thaco was made after only 2 months compared to the previous price increase in December 2021.

Among the three models that have been adjusted to increase prices of the Kia brand, Seltos and K3 are considered the mainstays of sales, regularly appearing in the top 10 best-selling cars in the market. Meanwhile, Kia Sonet is still facing a serious shortage of goods. Car buyers have to book in advance and often have to wait months to receive the car.

Toyota

Dealers have announced that Toyota cars will increase prices, applied from May 1 to. In this price increase, almost all hot products of Toyota increased at the same time.

Specifically, Toyota Vios will increase the price by 5-6 million VND for all versions – the new listed price will be 483-635 million VND, Innova have a similar increase, Corolla Cross increase by 16 million VND (for all versions), Raize an increase of 20 million dong, Yaris an increase of 16 million dong, Camry an increase of 18-21 million dong.

More advanced models such as Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado and Alphard increase in price by 40 million dong. The models that keep their prices unchanged are mostly new-homecoming cars like Corolla Altis, Avanza Premio or Veloz Cross, and cars with not-so-impressive sales like Wigo, Hilux or Rush.

Suzuki

From April, Suzuki announced to increase the price of 4 models of its car including Ciaz, Suzuki Swift, Ertiga and XL7. Specifically, Ciaz increased the price by 6 million dong, to 535 million, Swift increased the price by 10 million to 560 million while Ertiga increased the price by 9 million for the automatic version while the manual version kept the same price. The new selling price of Ertiga is VND 569 million.

Meanwhile, Suzuki XL7 listed price increased by 10 million dong, to 600 million dong. XL7 is the model with the best sales of Suzuki in the Vietnamese market. Having the styling of a crossover, the XL7 is included in the MPV segment, competing with rivals like Mitsubishi Xpander and having relatively impressive sales throughout 2021.

From the beginning of 2022, Ford announced the price increase of 2 key models including: Ranger and Everest with an increase of 12-13 million dong.

The locally assembled Ranger opens for sale in Vietnam with 5 versions, the new price is at VND 628-937 million. Particularly, the Raptor version does not increase the price. In addition to having to buy at a higher price, current Ranger buyers will also have to pay about 20-50 million more “lost” money if they want to receive the car soon. Ranger is currently the only locally assembled pickup model – enjoy a 50% discount on registration fees.

Meanwhile, Ford Everest Sport 4×2 version increased in price by 12 million VND to 1,124 billion VND while Titanium 4×2 and 4×4 versions increased in price by 12 and 13 million VND, to 1,193 billion VND and 1,412 billion VND respectively.

Both the new Ford Ranger and Everest versions have been introduced in the international market, possibly returning to Vietnam this year.
