Korea U20 brings student players, students to U23 Vietnam

Korea U20 brings 24 players to Vietnam. This is nominally a U20 team, but the force consists of U19 players. This is understandable because the entire Korean U20 force called to gather this year is in the U19 group to look forward to the final round of the U20 World Cup next year (2023).

In the list of 24 Korean U20 players, 10 are playing for university and high school teams. The youngest player is Kim Junghun, born in September 2004 and is on the payroll of Suwon Samsung U18 team.

Korea U20 is the practice opponent of U23 Vietnam before SEA Games 31.

It is not unusual for the Korean U20 team to use players from the school football system. Every year, the Korean Football Association (KFA) convenes youth teams in several batches with different personnel to select the best force towards international tournaments. Not only the youth team of professional clubs, university and high school teams can also provide quality young talents for the Korean U16 to U20 teams.

In addition, Korea U20 also has many players who have been promoted to the first team of professional clubs in two K-League divisions. Striker Lee Young-jun can be mentioned, who has played 20 matches in the K-League for Suwon Club.

Korea U20 will play 2 friendly matches with U23 Vietnam. The first match took place on April 19 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho). The two teams will rematch on April 22 at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi).
