This week, the “green hell” Nurburgring welcomes a special guest. It’s the high-performance SVR version of the Land Rover Defender.

The identity of the SUV in the photo is definitely the Land Rover Defender SVR. According to the person who took the photo, the engine sound is most likely a V8. Currently, Land Rover is also offering the option of a V8 engine on the Defender with a minimum capacity of 518 horsepower.

Meanwhile, the Land Rover Defender SVR is rumored to also use a V8 engine but is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo borrowed from BMW, for a higher capacity, at 600 horsepower. If this information is true, Defender users will have up to 2 V8 engine options to choose from.

Compared to the standard Land Rover Defender, the prototype that appeared at the Nurburgring had a modified bodywork in the wheel arch area, and a wheel design that has never appeared on current configurations. In addition, the pair of brakes observed at the front wheel is much larger than usual.

Land Rover Defender SVR with a series of advanced technologies and the above engines will definitely make the Mercedes-AMG G 63 be wary. This model is expected to launch before the end of 2022.
