Sanhok map is coming back to PUBG: Battleground

Krafton announced it will bring back PUBG: Battleground’s original Sanhok map via the game’s latest update.

According to GameRant, Sanhok is probably the most controversial map of PUBG: Battlegrounds. Introduced in 2018, it was the smallest map of PUBG at the time with a size of 4×4. Sanhok was criticized for its low visibility and dense foliage, but it was also the most played PUBG map for a while after its release. Sanhok has since undergone a major overhaul, which makes the map even more controversial. Perhaps in response to the negative feedback, Krafton will re-release Sanhok with many changes brought back to the original.

Krafton says that Sanhok will return to its ‘original glory’ as part of the upcoming 17.1 update. This was previously announced in the development team’s 2022 Dev Plan. Players who want to experience the changes with Sanhok can try it out on test server PC starting 7.4.

The old map returns starting with the additions from the 2020 remake being removed. And previously deleted content will return. The new Sanhok will not be exactly the same as the original map, because it’s been a long time and many things have changed, for both Sanhok and PUBG, to be able to go back to the way it was. However, Krafton still hopes that these changes will make Sanhok more attractive to players. To be precise, Krafton is wanting the most popular map back.

Update 17.1 for PUBG: Battlegrounds coming soon. The official release date for the new content is April 13 on PC and April 21 on consoles.

Players can check out all the changes to the new Krafton map at the website na.battlegrounds.pubg.com/patch-notes/update-17-1.
