At noon on April 13, Vang Thi Tham (19 years old, from Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province) presented to the investigating agency to clarify the behavior of discarding her newborn baby.
Working with the police, Tham confessed that at the end of January 2022, she was pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy in a restroom in Dinh Tram industrial park.
After that, she put the child in another room and left. When the company workers discovered the incident, the boy was dead.
Tham declared that he was unmarried and did not know who his son’s father was.
Therefore, when the baby is born, due to fear of disparagement from family and society, the child should be discarded. After that, the Viet Yen Police investigated and took Tham and his son for a DNA test.
Due to her poor health after giving birth, Tham was monitored at a medical facility, so she took advantage of this to escape.
On April 12, the Viet Yen District Police issued a notice to search for Vang Thi Tham to clarify the behavior of discarding the newborn baby.
