New York City police describe suspect Frank R James, 62, with addresses in Philadelphia and Wisconsin.
“He was involved in the shooting incident on the Brooklyn rush hour subway train on the morning of April 12 (US time)” – police said on Twitter and emphasized – “A reward of $50,000 will be given to anyone who provides information that helps arrest the suspect.”

When carrying out the attack, the suspect was wearing a gas mask and orange protective vest.
According to preliminary investigation, the suspect attacked the train heading to the station in the Sunset Park neighborhood at about 8:30 a.m. on April 12 (US time). This is an area inhabited by Hispanic and Asian communities.
The suspect threw a smoke grenade at the subway before opening fire, hitting at least 17 people, including five in critical condition. At least 29 people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds or smoke inhalation and other problems following the attack. There have been no deaths, according to ABC News.

“The subway doors opened during the disaster,” witness Sam Carcamo told 1010 WINS radio. “The scene was smoke and blood. Everyone’s screams rang out.” Images on social media also showed many people lying on the floor, surrounded by what appeared to be pools of blood.
The New York City police representative said the attack was not an act of terrorism but “nor do we rule anything out”.

At the scene, authorities found a 9mm pistol with multiple magazines, exploded and unexploded smoke grenades, a black trash can, a wheelchair, gasoline and a key to a van. U-Haul. Police later found this car about 6 km from the scene.

“It is possible that the suspect’s gun was jammed, preventing him from continuing to fire,” a police source said.
To investigate and track down the culprit, authorities checked all 472 security cameras at transportation hubs from Philadelphia to Connecticut. However, these cameras seem to malfunction where the train station arrives, for unknown reasons.
