German police say they have identified the real owner of the superyacht as Ms Ismailova, despite efforts to “hide the yacht off the coast”.
Ms. Ismailova is also on the EU’s sanctions list. EU officials said Mr Usmanov had “indirectly transferred assets”, including the superyacht Dilbar, to his sister, according to Reuters news agency.
“Therefore the luxury yacht Dilbar is subject to punitive laws and can be legally detained in Hamburg,” the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) said on Twitter.
The DPA news agency quoted a BKA spokesman as saying the yacht would not be “sold, leased or pledged as collateral”.

The superyacht Dilbar was once believed to be under the control of the German government in March this year, when it was discovered at the Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg. The yacht has been repaired here since October 2021. However, German officials quickly denied this information.
Dilbar is a 156m-long yacht with a 25m-long swimming pool and two helipads. The US Treasury Department has valued this superyacht from 600 to 750 million USD, according to Bloomberg News.
The move by German officials highlights the far-reaching impact of US and European sanctions on Russian oligarchs believed to have close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Superyachts and other assets owned by Russian oligarchs have particularly attracted Western scrutiny since Moscow launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24.
The tycoon Usmanov owns a large stake in USM, a Russian investment group with stakes in the telecommunications company MegaFon and the world’s largest iron ore producer Metalloinvest. Billionaire Usmanov is the 6th richest person in Russia with a fortune of $ 19 billion.
