Hydrogen energy – the fuel of the future

The village of Bosbüll, in the north of Germany, is working on a pilot project in the transition from fossil fuels to hydrogen. Two buses run by hydrogen energy operating on the roads in the village of Bosbüll, several refueling stations have been built for cars to be filled with hydrogen.

“It’s very quiet. You only hear the electric motor and the steering gear,” said Sven Hansel, driver of the hydrogen-powered bus.

A hydrogen-powered car costs twice as much as a diesel-powered car. Accompanying it is the fuel price that is not cheap either. To drive 500km, it will cost 50 euros to recharge hydrogen, twice as expensive as electric cars.

Mr. Andre Steinau – Head of the Hydrogen energy project: “We have to get used to the fact that a green economy is more expensive than a fossil fuel-based economy, that’s the price we have to pay for it. but we are all interested in saving the world, this technology has been around for a long time but still in its early stages, if used on a large scale – it will be cheaper “.

People here think that in just a few years eco-friendly hydrogen energy will cost the same as conventional energy. The pilot project in the village of Bosbüll proves that hydrogen energy is suitable for everyday use.

Around the world, Japan announced its transition to a hydrogen economy in 2014. Middle Eastern countries, especially Saudi Arabia, are also using their oil proceeds to reinvest in hydrogen energy, aiming to maintain its leading position in the global energy market in the post-fossil fuel era.

In Europe, the EU has announced a hydrogen strategy, which aims to increase the share of hydrogen fuel use from 3% today to 14% by 2050. Investment in hydrogen fuel is starting to heat up.
