Mr. Yuanqing Yang, President and CEO (CEO) of Lenovo, announced the company’s bold vision for the coming year at Lenovo’s annual plan implementation meeting.
Research and Development (R&D) continues to be a priority for Lenovo. Investment in R&D will be doubled, and 12,000 new R&D personnel will be hired over the next three years, supplementing nearly 5,000 current employees.

R&D activities are focused on this new and evolving IT architecture. Teams will conduct research that innovates products and business models, nurturing technologies from edge computing to technology that helps businesses enterprise harness the metaverse and new disruptive innovations like next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) and heterogeneous computing, helping customers prepare for the future.
Along with its R&D commitments, Lenovo also has a vision of becoming a net zero carbon dioxide company by 2050. Lenovo is currently partnering with the Science Based Target Initiative to establish new initiatives. goals that meet this vision.
Lenovo also reported on its ESG commitments over the past 14 years, including an overview of the company’s activities and goals related to climate change mitigation, the circular economy and sustainable materials. In 2020, Lenovo exceeded its emissions reduction target a year earlier than planned and has set science-based targets for 2030.
