Slap scenes haunt Vietnamese actors with physical and mental pain

In the recently revealed behind-the-scenes scene, when receiving a slap from People’s Artist Thu Ha, Hong Dang was in so much pain that he hugged his face and fell on the bed. In another scene, the actor’s cheeks were also imprinted with 5 fingers when his co-star Luong Thu Trang slapped him hard.

After a strong slap, Hong Dang was slightly stunned. The director quickly shouted “cut”. Thu Trang explained because the distance between her and Hong Dang was too close, the force was strong. After the incident, she apologized to the actor.

Sharing about the slap scenes, Hong Dang is funny: ”On average, each slap scene will have 3 camera angles, so if I multiply it slightly, these 3 scenes will “eat” 12 slaps. Before each scene, I believe that the co-star will slap in a coordinated way to be as light… as possible. Yet the co-stars are all grinding their teeth and then closing their eyes when slapping, what else can you see to coordinate”

Bao Thanh

When playing the role of Minh Van’s daughter-in-law in Living with Mother-in-law, Bao Thanh had to perform 3-4 slap segments. But the best life is the slap of her husband (Anh Dung) to the point of bleeding when Van demanded money back from Mrs. Phuong.

Talking about this segment, the actress said: “After that slap, I fell down, my hand and head hit the door painfully. At that time, the pain here was no longer an act but real pain both physically and mentally. Along with that is the feeling of choking difficulty“.

For many actors, accurately portraying intimate scenes is a challenge. But for Bao Thanh, that’s not a hindrance, she plays the role very sweetly and acts naturally.

Trong Hung

In the film Go Home Baby, actor Trong Hung had to beat his co-star Thu Quynh (Hue), and was slapped by actor Trung Anh. The actor shared that slapping Thu Quynh was the scene that worried him the most because Trong Hung had never hit a woman.

Before filming this scene, Trong Hung had to tell his co-star: “Oh honey! There’s a slap scene coming up. Be hard. I love you so much!”. Because she wanted to have the most realistic movie scene, Thu Quynh said: “It’s okay, I’ll just do it!”.

Khai also had a memorable slap scene when the memorable scene was when Mr. Son (People’s Artist Trung Anh) slapped him. Because he was sorry for his co-star, Trung Anh slapped him very lightly. But these scenes weren’t perfect, so they had to go back and forth many times.

Talking about a memorable experience when filming a scene of slapping Nhan Phuc Vinh in the elevator, Dan Le confided:It was a memorable scene for Le and Nhan Phuc Vinh because before that Vinh had to film another scene related to the slap, so Vinh seemed to be very shy with his co-star’s blow. The two have discussed in advance how to coordinate to make the slap look alive and real without harming the co-star.

The scene took place in a tight and crowded context, it was not easy to do, so it was necessary to discuss with the cameraman how to coordinate to shoot a quick double. On the picture, the audience only sees 1 slap, but in reality the actor will have to suffer from 3-5 slaps. Fortunately, thanks to the smooth coordination, Le and Vinh made the scene smoothly.”
