My wife and I live in the city, sometimes we go back to our hometown to visit our husband’s parents once. But at the end of last year, my mother-in-law died of old age sickness. A lonely father went in and out. Loving my father, my wife and I discussed hiring a maid to help him with housework, but he refused.

Around that time, every weekend, my wife and I would bring our children home to visit our father and then stay for two days. But for the past 4 months, the company is too busy (we set up a private company) so I only call my dad when I have free time.

Last night, my wife and I were having dinner when we heard the doorbell ring. The maid opened the gate and ran in, frantically saying there was an old man standing in front of the door, insisting to meet “Bin, son of Na” (my husband’s and I’s home name).

My wife and I rushed out. That’s right, dad. He was holding an old bag and crouched down pitifully. As soon as I saw my husband, tears welled up in his eyes. He blamed: “What are we doing now that we don’t come back? I miss you so much. I came here early in the morning, I lost my way, now I’m so hungry, Bin, Na.”

I heard it and cried. My husband also had tears in his eyes, and quickly helped him into the house. When my two children saw their grandfather coming to visit, they were overjoyed. The older daughter also blamed my husband and I for making money and not caring about grandpa.

To be honest, I didn’t think Dad would come all the way from the countryside, 200km away, to visit us. We are so unfilial, we can’t even visit him. But my husband told my father to stay in the city, but he refused because he was afraid that his mother’s altar would not be taken care of. How to convince him? But now that he is old, it is not good to be alone in the countryside.
