Scientists say that, unlike other animals, crocodiles possess special blood that makes them resistant to venom when bitten by snakes. Even crocodiles can eat poisonous snakes deliciously without fear of being poisoned.

In a study published in the journal Herpetology, John Finger – an expert who has studied crocodiles for more than 13 years – said that crocodile blood contains a special serum, which helps to resist venom when bitten by snakes and fish. Crocodiles can eat poisonous snakes without danger.

However, in reality, crocodiles and snakes rarely “clash”. Venomous snakes are also not the crocodile’s favorite prey.

“Crocodile blood contains ingredients that help cells fight off the destructive properties of snake venom. We will further investigate this possibility and possibly help humans possess anti-venom drugs in the future, based on crocodile blood,” said expert John Finger.

According to expert John Finger, although crocodile blood can resist snake venom, it cannot protect baby crocodiles from being eaten by snakes.

In the natural environment, many newborn crocodiles have become delicious prey for poisonous snakes. Even adult crocodiles can be “victims” of large pythons.

“Snake venom can damage tissues and destroy blood cells, but crocodile serum inhibits this destruction. If we compare the serum in the blood of alligators and mice, crocodile blood has 100 times stronger anti-snake properties,” said Mr. Finger.

According to Mr. Finger, there are still many mysteries about crocodiles – cold-blooded predators – that people have not fully understood.
