In 1999, the movie rom-com Never Been Kissed was released. Featuring an all-star cast like Drew Barrymore, Jesscial Alba, David Arquette, Michael Vartan and James Franco, the film follows Josie Geller (Drew Barrymore), a 25-year-old editor with the face of a high school student.

However, few people know that during the filming, a strange incident happened and made actor Michael Vartan embarrassed.
In September 2021, Drew Barrymore hosts a reunion of the Never Been Kissed cast on his show. In it, actor Michael shared his experience when performing a kiss scene with his one-time crush, Drew Barrymore, at the classic baseball field. He told Drew:
“There’s something that few people know about the most famous scene in the movie, and I don’t know if I should tell you…. Then I stood on the podium and we hugged and kissed. I mean , she actually kissed me I wasn’t ready for that and I was a very young man back then, so I, um, had ‘react‘
Those reactions, it just came naturally, and I realized that this was a bad time because I was wearing very thin pants. I thought, “This is a disaster. They’re still filming. I have to stop this.”
So in a panic, I yelled and bent down and said, “Sorry guys, my back hurts a bit from playing football.” Then I ran to the corner and… when I was able to control myself. Dear, I just came back. Fortunately, the next scene went smoothly. And you’re such a good kisser.”
After hearing Michael’s words, Drew was very happy. She added: “Thank you. You know, since you weren’t married at the time, I just did my best because you’re still single and I feel like I haven’t offended anyone either.”
Michael Vartan is a French-American actor. Starting to act in movies in 1991, he left his mark through works such as Never Been Kissed, Rouge, Alias,… Michael dated co-star Jennifer Garner while filming Alias but soon broke up. In 2009, he married Lauren Skaar but divorced 5 years later.
