Secretary Nguyen Van Nen presents books to the US ambassador

At the meeting, Party Secretary Nguyen Van Should emphasized areas of interest such as the economy (including digital economy) and energy, calling on the two sides to strengthen bilateral relations more effectively. He also said that the Vietnam-US relationship spans many fields, and hopes that the US will promote programs in energy, economy, and education.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Knapper affirmed the close relationship with Vietnam over the past time, especially the mutual help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Knapper affirmed that the US is ready to join hands with Vietnam in the field of digital economy and digital transformation and that the two countries currently have a number of cooperation programs in this field.

Regarding energy, he recalled that former US Secretary of State John Kerry, special envoy of the US president on climate change, recently said that this is a potential field for Vietnam.

Finally, the US diplomat expressed his hope that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh would come to Washington to attend the US – ASEAN Summit in the near future.
