The Department of Education and Training held a competency survey in English on June 25 to select 525 students to enter 15th grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.
The enrollment plan was announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training on the evening of April 15, applicable to students completing primary school in the city. This indicator is 75 less than last year, equal to the years from 2020 and before.
Compulsory exam conditions are that students have a periodical test score at the end of the 5th grade year in each subject of Math and Vietnamese from 9 or higher.
Candidates will take the ability assessment in 90 minutes on the morning of June 25. Survey topic Competency includes 8 essay questions and 24 multiple-choice questions, mainly in English. The test aims to test students’ ability to use English and logical thinking. Questions in the fields of natural, social, life, historical, and geographical sciences.
Based on the test results, the Department will consider from high to low until the quota is met. Students who are not admitted to this specialized school are considered for regular 6th grade.
In recent years, the number of registrations for the 6th grade exam in this school is about 3,800-4,000 won; The average ratio is 1 to 8, the highest among the specialized schools in Ho Chi Minh City. On a 100-point scale, the 2020 benchmark is 57.6; in 2019 is 48; in 2018 is 65.25.
Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted is the only school in Ho Chi Minh City that considers admission to grade 6 with a capacity survey. This is also one of two specialized high schools under the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.
