Cambodia sets up vaccination sites at temples and entertainment venues during the Chol Chnam Thmay festival

To accelerate progress get vaccinated against COVID-19Goverment Cambodia vaccination points have been established at temples and entertainment venues during this holiday.

Nokor Bachey Pagoda is one of the oldest temples in Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham province. In 3 days Chol Chnam Thmay Festivalhundreds of local people come together to the temple to worship, pray for good things to their families and this is also an opportunity for them to remember the merits of their grandparents and ancestors.

Most people coming to the temple are conscious of wearing masks and taking measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The local government has set up a free vaccination site right on the temple premises to create favorable conditions for people to attend the ceremony to combine with COVID-19 vaccination.

During this year’s Chol Chnam Thmay festival, Prime Minister Hun Sen urged people to continue to receive booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine, wear full masks at destinations, except in 4 provinces of Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Stung Treng and Preah Vihear. However, the Cambodian Prime Minister also asked the local government to suspend the implementation of the Law on Prevention of COVID-19 so that people can enjoy Tet comfortably.
