Clouded leopards rush to bite many people because they are surrounded

Susanta Nanda, an officer with the Indian Forest Service, shared on Twitter a video of a leopard attacking a crowd during a raid.

The leopard is being rescued by the Indian Forest Service and returned to the wild after it entered human territory. It hid in a shallow well and was surrounded by many people. In dire need, the leopard rushed to attack people standing nearby.

It was important in this attack that the people attacked were among a crowd of curious onlookers, not Forest Service rangers.

The leopard pounced on 2 people continuously, then the video ended so it is not clear if it will continue to attack anyone else or not.

“What a horrible rescue. Controlling the curious crowd has always been one of the dilemmas in human-animal conflicts. They have no reason to be there. Not even protective gear. And perhaps no one has the skill to comfort even a cat. Never try to do something like that.” Susanta Nanda writes on her Twitter. He also believes that the leopard acted on its own instinct, not at all.
