Ho Chi Minh City announces enrollment quotas for 10th grade majors
The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has announced the enrollment quota for 10th grade in gifted high schools and high schools with specialized classes in the 2022-2023 school year.
The city has 1,610 targets for 10th graders at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, Gia Dinh High School, Nguyen Huu Huan High School and Mac Dinh Chi High School.
Particularly, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, recruited 180 students for the non-specialized class, and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, recruited 90 students. Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, Gia Dinh High School, Nguyen Huu Huan High School and Mac Dinh Chi High School recruit gifted students and enroll 10th graders in high schools usually according to 3 priority aspirations.
Candidates are students who have graduated from junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City (secondary school graduates in other provinces and cities are only allowed to participate in the entrance exam for Le Vocational High School for the Gifted). Hong Phong); grading of conduct, academic performance for the whole school year of grades 6, 7, 8 from good or higher; graduated from junior high school with honors.
To take the entrance exam 10th grade, candidates have to take the exam in 3 subjects of literature, math, foreign language and take the exam for more specialized subjects. Specialized exams include Literature, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, English, Chinese, Japanese, and Informatics.
Students who register for the computer science exam can choose to specialize in computing (students write in Pascal or C/C++) or choose to take the specialized math exam. The admission quota for the specialized computer class consists of 70% for students who choose to specialize in computer science and 30% for students who choose to take the specialized math exam.
Regarding the application, students in Ho Chi Minh City will apply for admission in the same batch as the application for regular 10th grade. Particularly, students in the provinces apply at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted from May 4 to 9 (only allowed to take the entrance exam to Le Hong Phong School).
The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City also noted that candidates who have applied for admission to the above schools and the High School for the Gifted (VNU Ho Chi Minh City), or the specialized system of the Real High School Ho Chi Minh City University of Pedagogy will no longer be on the list for admission to the 10th grade of a regular high school (because each student has only one successful name).
After being recruited into the non-specialized classes of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, students will be guided to choose a department according to their aspirations and abilities.
Expected exam schedule
June 10, 2022: At 9:30 am: Students are present at the test site to practice exam regulations and check personal information.
June 11, 2022: Morning exam for Literature; foreign language afternoon
June 12, 2022: Math exam in the morning, professional exam in the afternoon.
The score for admission to specialized classes is the total score: Literature score + Foreign Language score + Math score + (specialty score x 2). Admission is only for candidates who are allowed to participate in the entrance exam, have completed all the prescribed exams, do not violate the Regulations in the entrance exam, and all of the tests have scored higher than 2.
